Greetings! My name is Bhagwattie Murliwattie, and I proudly call Fleece Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled along the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region, my life here is enriched by the vibrant culture and community that Guyana offers. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and the rich traditions of our people, I have developed a deep appreciation for our unique heritage, especially our mouthwatering cuisine. There's nothing like a good plate of pepperpot or some fresh fried fish, and I firmly believe that nobody can stop Guyanese food from stealing the show!
I often find myself reminiscing about the days spent at local landmarks, like the Pom River, where the sounds of laughter and the smell of cooking waft through the air. Living in the diaspora, I am always eager to connect with fellow Guyanese around the world, sharing stories and experiences that remind us of home. It’s true what they say: “If you're not from there, you won't understand it.” The camaraderie amongst us, whether in Canada, the USA, or beyond, is a testament to our strong roots and resilient spirit.
Despite being far from our beloved land at times, I am thrilled to see the positive changes taking place in Guyana. As we embrace growth and development, I hold on to the hope that we will continue to celebrate our culture and uplift one another. Whether it's through our vibrant festivals, our beautiful landscapes, or our rich culinary delights, I am proud to represent Guyana and share its beauty with the world.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
