Hello, I'm Bhawanie Persaud, a dedicated teacher residing in the vibrant community of Wakenaam, nestled in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. My passion for education stems from a deep-rooted belief in the transformative power of knowledge. Growing up in Guyana, I have been fortunate to embrace our rich cultural heritage, from the lively sounds of the parang music during Christmas to the mouthwatering flavors of our local dishes like pepperpot and metemgee. These experiences shape not only my life but also my teaching philosophy, as I strive to instill a sense of pride in our history and traditions in my students.
In my role as an educator, I constantly seek to bridge the gap between our local context and the broader world. Guyana is a land of contrasts; we may rank high in GDP (PPP) but face challenges that require innovative solutions and community collaboration. I often draw inspiration from the resilience of our people, reflected in the comments and stories shared by the diaspora. Just as my students learn from their surroundings, I believe that we can all share and learn from each other's experiences, regardless of where we are in the world.
