Hello! I’m Bibi Ally, a proud resident of Essequibo, located at 11 Old Road Good Hope in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. From the lush greenery that surrounds us to the rich history embedded in our landscapes, this land is a part of my identity. Growing up here, I have always been captivated by the majestic Kaieteur Falls and the vibrant energy of our local festivals, which showcase our diverse heritage through music, dance, and, of course, our mouthwatering cuisine. Who can resist a plate of pepperpot or some delicious cook-up rice?
Guyana holds a special place in my heart, and I cherish the connection we share with the diaspora, particularly in discussions around our colonial history and the ongoing narrative of unity among our ethnic groups. While we navigate the complexities of our past, I believe that our shared experiences and love for our homeland bring us closer. I often reflect on the thoughts shared by my fellow Guyanese about our culture, which is a blend of Indigenous, African, Indian, and European influences, making it both unique and rich.
