Hello and welcome! My name is Bibi Rasulbaksh, and I proudly hail from the vibrant community of Coast 8 Public Road in Lima Anna, located in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up in this lush landscape, I have been immersed in our rich culture, where the sounds of the Essequibo River and the aroma of pepper pot on festive occasions remind me of the warmth of our people. In our homes, we affectionately refer to our elders as "auntie" or "uncle," a practice that reflects our deep-rooted respect for family and community.
As someone who loves the arts, I enjoy acting and sharing stories that reflect our unique experiences as Guyanese. Whether it's gathering at the local market to savor fresh fruits like cashew and pineapple or participating in lively celebrations during Mashramani, these moments connect us to our heritage and each other. I truly believe that every conversation, from learning about the geography of our land to discussing the history of our beloved Caricom partnership, enriches our understanding of who we are.
My journey has also been shaped by the connections I maintain with the Guyanese diaspora, spreading our culture far and wide. I cherish the conversations with others who carry a piece of Guyana in their hearts, and I am dedicated to celebrating our heritage through every opportunity.
