Greetings from the Essequibo Coast! Iām Bibi Jalim, a proud housewife residing in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My days are filled with the rich flavors and vibrant traditions of our culture, from preparing our cherished national dish, Pepper Pot, to sharing stories with friends about the local markets where I find the freshest produce and artisanal goods. As a daughter of this land, I deeply value the heritage that our indigenous people have passed down through generations, and I strive to keep these traditions alive.
In my community, we embrace the diversity that makes Guyana unique, with influences from our six races weaving through our daily lives. I often reminisce about the cultural exchanges we have with our Brazilian and Portuguese neighbors and how these interactions enrich our lives. It's important to me to educate others about the beauty of our homeland, and I enjoy helping visitors understand the significance of the experiences they encounter here. Whether it's a taste of our famous cassava bread or a stroll along the banks of the Essequibo River, I believe that every moment spent in Guyana tells a story worth sharing.
