Hello! I’m Bibi Khan-Doodnau, a dedicated teacher living on the Essequibo Coast in the charming community of Coffee Grove, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in Guyana has shaped my passion for education and my love for our rich cultural heritage. From the vibrant celebrations of Mashramani to the soothing sounds of the rivers that flow through our lands, I find inspiration in the beauty surrounding me. Guyana is truly blessed with natural wonders, and I cherish the opportunity to share this appreciation with my students.
In my classroom, I strive to instill a sense of pride in our students about their roots. I often incorporate local history and folklore into my lessons, helping them understand the significance of our diverse cultures and the struggles that have shaped us over the years. Whether it’s sharing a plate of pepperpot or encouraging students to explore the lush rainforests, my goal is to connect them to their identity, just as I was connected to mine. As we say in Guyana, “RIVER GT FEAR NOT LOWER POM”—embracing our homeland's spirit is vital.
