My roots run deep in the rich soil of Guyana, where my heart beats to the rhythm of our diverse cultures. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes, I have cherished memories of fishing along the Pomeroon River and enjoying our local dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice, often shared with family during lively gatherings. Just like many in our diaspora, I hold a special connection to Essequibo, and I love sharing stories of our beautiful land with those who are far away.
Living in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I’ve witnessed firsthand the warmth of our community. Whether it’s celebrating Guyana's Independence Day or simply having a sweetbread bake sale with neighbors, each moment reminds me of our vibrant heritage. I often reminisce about my father’s tales from Essequibo and my mother’s roots from Matthews Ridge. These stories inspire me to remain connected to our culture and share it with others, bridging the gap between our homeland and the diaspora.
As I manage my store, I strive to bring a little piece of Guyana to my customers, showcasing local products and flavors that remind us of home.
