Hello! My name is Bishnu Prashad, and I proudly call East Bank Essequibo my home. Nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, this vibrant community is where I work hard as a labourer, contributing to the day-to-day life of my fellow Guyanese. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and the mighty Essequibo River, I've developed a deep appreciation for our country's natural beauty, especially the breathtaking Kaieteur Falls, which I believe is a true testament to Guyana's rich heritage.
As a proud Guyanese, I cherish our culture, particularly our incredible food. From the soft, flaky roti that brings back memories of family gatherings to the sweet and spicy flavors of our beloved pepperpot, the culinary traditions of Guyana hold a special place in my heart. I often reminisce about the times spent enjoying home-cooked meals with friends and family, sharing stories and laughter that bind us together. Even in the diaspora, I feel the warmth of our community, as many share their love for our dishes and the longing for home.
While there are challenges that we face, such as the need for better infrastructure and public services in Georgetown, I remain hopeful for a brighter future.
