Hello! I’m Bissoondai Mohabir, a proud resident of Demerara, where the vibrant pulse of Guyanese life thrives on every corner. Growing up amidst the lush greenery and rich cultural heritage, I often find myself reminiscing about childhood days spent at the Pomeroon River, where I learned the value of community and connection with nature. Our local delicacies, from pepperpot to roti, are not just meals but reminders of our diverse heritage that includes Indian, African, Portuguese, and Indigenous influences.

My roots run deep in this land, where every river tells a story—like the Arasaro and Kamadankaro that have shaped our lives. I cherish the history of Linden and the tales of resilience, particularly during World War II, which are beautifully captured in books like "The Children of Watooka.” These narratives strengthen our bond as a diaspora, reminding us that despite the challenges we face, our spirit remains unyielding.

As I navigate life here on Third Street North, I remain engaged with my neighbors, including those from Brazil and Suriname, sharing experiences that enrich our community. I believe that, despite our struggles, there’s always a reason to remain positive and uplift one another.
