Greetings! My name is Shaneiza Blake, and I proudly call Cloudland in the Barima-Waini region of Guyana my home. As a devoted housewife, I embrace the nurturing spirit of our vibrant culture, where family and community hold a central place in our lives. With the lush landscapes and the mighty Pomeroon River nearby, I find inspiration in nature's beauty and the rich traditions that our ancestors have passed down through generations.
Growing up in Guyana, I developed a deep appreciation for our delectable cuisine. Whether it’s savoring the flavors of pepperpot on special occasions or indulging in fresh catch from the riverside, food is a celebration of our heritage. I often reminisce about family gatherings filled with laughter, good music, and, of course, an abundance of delicious dishes that bring us all together. The warmth of our people and the rhythm of our culture are what I love most about being Guyanese.
Though I may currently reside in Cloudland, I cherish the connections I have with fellow Guyanese, both near and far. Whether it's sharing stories of the Kamarang Island or reminiscing about the sweet times spent by the River Back Canal in Hackney, our diaspora community remains a vital part of my identity. I look forward to continuing to celebrate our culture and sharing the richness of Guyana with those around me.
Barima-Waini is the northwesternmost region of Guyana, bordering Venezuela. Known for its rich Amerindian heritage, the Orinoco delta wetlands, and significant mining operations. Population center is Mabaruma.
