Hello! I’m Brenda Beckles, a proud housewife residing in Pomeroon-Supenaam, on the beautiful Coast 230 Benn Street. My heart beats for the vibrant culture of Guyana, where the aroma of freshly made roti fills the air, even if some folks insist on calling it "rodie"! 😂 Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and the rhythms of our native music, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our natural wonders like the breathtaking Kaieteur Falls and the warm embrace of our communities. These experiences shape my daily life and the meals I prepare for my family, as I strive to bring a taste of home to our dining table.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I often think of the words of our people, urging the development of our homeland so that one day we can all return to enjoy the simple pleasures of life back home—perhaps a stroll down Rohan Kanhai Avenue or a gathering at Johnny Braff Parkway. Our connection to Guyana runs deep, and I cherish every moment spent reminiscing about our delicious local dishes and the soothing sounds of our rivers, like the Kamadankoro that carries our stories and dreams.
While I take pride in my role as a housewife, I also believe in the importance of preserving our culture and heritage for future generations. I enjoy sharing the stories of our beloved Guyana with friends and family, whether it's discussing our unique words like "poke-nocker" to describe those adventurous gold and diamond seekers or simply craving some good ol’ GT food. Together, we keep the spirit of our homeland alive, no matter where we are in the world!
