Hello! I'm Brentnol Babb, a proud resident of Essequibo, specifically the Railway Embankment in Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots run deep in this beautiful land, where the lush greenery meets the winding rivers that have shaped our way of life. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant culture of Guyana, I've developed a love for our local cuisine, especially dishes like pepperpot and metemgee, which remind me of family gatherings and the warmth of our community.
Living in Essequibo, I have the privilege of being near some of our country's hidden gems, such as the serene shores of the Pomeroon River and the breathtaking landscapes that inspire both locals and visitors. I often reminisce about the stories shared by my grandparents, who lived through the transformative years of our nation, and I carry those stories with me as I navigate my own journey. There's something special about the unity and resilience of our people, and I'm inspired by how the Guyanese diaspora continues to shine a light on our heritage around the world.
I believe in the potential of our country and the importance of celebrating our identity, whether it’s through sharing our unique Guyanese phrases—like “Oh skunt, how I now seeing dis?”—or showcasing our vibrant festivals that draw on our diverse cultural influences.
