Hello! I'm Bridget Oselmo, a proud resident of Essequibo, nestled in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. This beautiful corner of the world is not just my home; it’s a canvas painted with lush landscapes, delicious local cuisine, and the warmth of our diverse communities. Growing up here, I’ve always been surrounded by the rich flavors of our traditional dishes, from pepperpot to metemgee, and the stunning sights of our rivers and rainforests, which are teeming with life.
Living in Essequibo, I've seen firsthand the complexities of our society. We often find ourselves navigating through a political landscape that feels stagnant, as many believe that no matter who leads, the people's needs are often overlooked. Yet, amidst it all, the Guyanese spirit shines through in our festivals, our music, and especially in the connections we maintain with the diaspora. It fills my heart with joy when I see fellow Guyanese abroad celebrating our culture, bringing a piece of home wherever they go.
I take pride in sharing our story with the world and helping others understand that Guyana, while small in size, is rich in history and biodiversity. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
