Welcome to my corner of Guyana! My name is Britney Austin, and I proudly call Upper Pomeroon River, GT Vryheid Jacklow my home. A vibrant region known for its rich landscapes and warm-hearted communities, Upper Pomeroon River is steeped in culture and tradition. Here, life flows as smoothly as the Pomeroon River itself, where you can often find me enjoying the freshest local fruits, especially our iconic pineapples that are simply to die for!
This beautiful land, with its lush greenery and close-knit communities, has shaped who I am today. I cherish the deep-rooted connections we have, not just in our villages but with the Guyanese diaspora across the globe. Like many, I have family who have ventured abroad, but we always stay tied to our roots. Whether it’s through sharing stories of our majestic Essequibo River or the breathtaking views from Kaieteur Falls, I take pride in bridging our rich heritage and experiences with others, both near and far.
While I celebrate the beauty of Guyana, I also acknowledge the challenges we face—something I've seen reflected in many discussions within our community. From the need for better infrastructure to the hope of a brighter future for our youth, I believe in the potential of our homeland. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
