Hello! I’m Burnette Lyte, a proud farmer residing in Portion Manawarin on Kairi Island, in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam. My love for the land runs deep, rooted in the rich soil that nurtures our rice fields and various crops that feed not just my family but also our community. Despite the challenges that many of us local rice farmers face, I find joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether it's sharing a plate of pepperpot or cassava bread with friends, or exchanging stories about our day under the warm glow of the Caribbean sun.
Life in Guyana is about more than just farming; it’s about a vibrant culture that thrives on connection. Each day, I’m reminded of our country’s beauty, from the breathtaking vistas of Kaieteur Falls to the lively sounds of our local markets. I cherish the moments spent with my fellow Guyanese, laughing and sharing experiences that bridge generations. It’s a blessing to know that even as many of our people have migrated to places like the USA and Canada, we maintain a strong bond that keeps our heritage alive.
