Hello! I’m Byron Collins, an Excavator Operator residing on the beautiful Essequibo Coast in Hampton Court, Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots run deep in this vibrant land where the Essequibo River gracefully meets the Atlantic Ocean. There’s nothing quite like the aroma of a freshly cooked Guyanese Baked Chicken or the sweet taste of a ripe mango straight from the tree. It’s these flavors and experiences that shape my identity and connect me to my community, whether we’re celebrating Mashramani or simply enjoying a sunset by the riverbank.
As a proud Guyanese, I cherish the diversity of our culture, from our Indian and African influences to our indigenous heritage. I often reminisce about the lively gatherings where laughter fills the air, and the rhythms of soca and chutney music unite us all. The warmth of our people is unmatched; it’s common to hear remarks like "we are dunce!" exchanged among friends, a testament to our playful spirit. I’m also deeply connected to the diaspora, sharing that bond of love for our homeland with Guyanese around the world.
