Welcome! My name is Candacie Cornette, and I proudly call the beautiful Essequibo Coast my home. I live in the vibrant Richmond Housing community, nestled within the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Here, the lush landscapes and flowing rivers, like the Pomeroon River, are not just part of my surroundings—they are integral to my identity. Growing up in this culturally rich area, I’ve been influenced by the diverse tapestry of cultures that make Guyana unique, blending the traditions of our First Peoples, East Indians, Africans, and British heritage.
As a resident of Guyana, I cherish the culinary delights that our diverse backgrounds bring to the table. From the sweet and sour chicken influenced by our Chinese community to the comforting flavors of traditional Guyanese dishes, food is a cherished way to connect with family, friends, and neighbors. Whether it’s enjoying a hearty meal or savoring freshly harvested pineapples, every bite tells a story of our shared culture and community ties.
