Hello! I’m Carlos Marks, a proud son of the Essequibo Coast, residing at 108 Back Street Housing in the vibrant region of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the rich, lush landscapes of Guyana, I have developed a deep appreciation for our natural resources and the community that thrives alongside them. As a miner, I’m well aware of the challenges and the beauty of our land. Whether it’s the serene banks of the Pomeroon River or the bustling market stalls filled with fresh kaieteur pepper and golden fried plantain, every corner of our homeland tells a unique story.
My journey has been greatly influenced by the experiences of our people, who have faced both adversity and resilience. I often reflect on comments from fellow Guyanese in the diaspora, who articulate the pain of our history while holding hope for the future. It’s a reminder that the legacy we inherit is not just a burden, but also a call to action. The echoes of my ancestors, who labored and loved this land, inspire me daily to contribute to our community in meaningful ways.
