Greetings! I’m Carmen Cornett, a proud resident of Coast 228 Bulah Dam in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up in this vibrant landscape, I've come to love our rich cultural heritage, from the lively sounds of calypso and reggae to the savory aromas of pepperpot and curry that waft through our neighborhoods. My upbringing has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our local traditions, and I enjoy sharing these wonderful aspects of Guyanese life with family and friends, both near and far.
As someone who values connection, I find joy in the warmth of our community, where every gathering feels like a family reunion. We often refer to one another as "uncle" or "aunty," a practice that transcends generations and echoes our South Asian roots. Whether it’s celebrating Mashramani or simply enjoying a meal of Chinese food in our local eateries, these experiences strengthen my ties to both our homeland and the diaspora abroad.
