Hello! I’m Carnel Damon, a proud farmer from the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, specifically at Coast 245 Damon Street. My roots run deep in this vibrant community, which is known for its lush landscapes and the rich waters of the Pomeroon River. The diversity of our people and culture is what makes Guyana truly special, from the tantalizing flavors of cook-up rice to the refreshing sweetness of our local fruits. I believe that you can’t truly appreciate the beauty of Guyana without experiencing it firsthand, especially outside of Georgetown where the true soul of our country resides.
Life here is a blend of hard work and community spirit. As a farmer, I take pride in cultivating the land that has nourished my family for generations. Whether it's sharing stories with my neighbors in Friendship Backlands or enjoying festivities during Mashramani, I cherish the connections I have with my fellow Guyanese. Though there are challenges, including the complexities of our leadership and society, I remain optimistic about the potential of our homeland. I often hear folks say, “to enjoy Guyana, you have to get out of Georgetown,” and I couldn’t agree more!
Despite the distance many of us face from the diaspora, I believe that our shared experiences—like navigating life in a country rich with potential yet rife with challenges—bring us closer together. It's a reminder that we are all part of a larger story, whether we're in the UK or right here in Pomeroon.
