Hello! I’m Cecil Gookul, a proud Guyanese currently serving as a security guard in the bustling area of Coast 12, just east of the Public Road in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in the vibrant heart of Guyana, I’ve learned to appreciate the rich culture around me—from the tantalizing flavors of pepperpot and metemgee to the serene beauty of the Essequibo River. My roots run deep in this land, where the warm smiles of my neighbors resonate with the rhythm of our diverse communities.
As an ex-pat navigating life away from home, I often reflect on the unique challenges we face, especially in this time of economic change. It’s disheartening to see the resources of our rich country, especially the newfound oil wealth, not yielding the improvements we hoped for. The dreams of better social services and community development are close to my heart, and I remain hopeful for a future where every Guyanese can thrive.
