Greetings! I’m Cecil Castello, a proud resident of Essequibo Coast, specifically in the vibrant community of Onderneeming, located in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. My roots run deep in this land, where the Essequibo River flows and lush greenery surrounds us. Growing up, I’ve been fortunate to enjoy the rich diversity of cultures, flavors, and traditions that define our nation—whether it's the warmth of a hearty pepperpot during Christmas or the sweet satisfaction of golden roti and curry on a Sunday afternoon.
Living in a melting pot of cultures, I’ve always appreciated how everyone takes part in each other’s customs. Whether it's celebrating Diwali with the Hindu community or enjoying Phagwah (Holi), these moments bring us closer. Even as I have friends and family scattered across the globe, such as those in the United States, we often reminisce about our shared experiences—like the excitement of carnival season or the serene beauty of the Kaieteur Falls. These connections remind me of the strength and resilience of our people, descendants of many nations who have come together to create something uniquely Guyanese.
