About CHAITWATTIE NARAIN

About Chaitwattie Narain

Welcome! I’m Chaitwattie Narain, a dedicated teacher residing on the beautiful Essequibo Coast at 197 Public Road Hampton, Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots run deep in the rich soil of Guyana, where the vibrant culture and warm-hearted people inspire me daily. Growing up near landmarks like the Pomeroon River and the lush expanses of Wakapau, I cherish the memories of family gatherings filled with the aroma of freshly cooked pepperpot and the sweet taste of coconut water. These experiences shape not just my life but also my teaching philosophy.

As an educator, I strive to instill the same love for learning in my students that was nurtured in me. I believe in celebrating our diverse heritage, from the traditional dances of our ancestors to the delicious meals we share during festivals like Mashramani. I’m passionate about connecting students with our local history and the beauty of our landscapes, whether it’s a field trip along the Lower Pomeroon River or exploring the stories of River Myrie Island.

Living in the diaspora has given me a unique perspective on our culture, and I deeply appreciate the sense of community we share, even across borders. I often reflect on the importance of staying connected to our roots, as echoed in the heartfelt comments from our diaspora, whether reminiscing about family in the Pomeroon or sharing tales of the enchanting Essequibo. Together, let's keep the spirit of Guyana alive, no matter where we are!
