Greetings! My name is Chanda Bhim, and I am proud to call Bank Essequibo my home. Nestled along the beautiful Railway Embankment in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I have been fortunate to grow up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture that Guyana is known for. From the sweet aroma of cook-up rice simmering during family gatherings to the rhythm of a lively lime at the local stelling, I carry these pieces of home wherever I go.
As a resident, I cherish the connections forged within our community—from the bustling markets of Lower Pom River to the serene banks of the Pomeroon River. I have a deep appreciation for our local delicacies, whether it’s the fresh catch from the river or the hearty meals prepared with love. My heart is also with the diaspora, as I regularly engage with fellow Guyanese who share stories of our rich heritage, from the spirited festivities at St. Monica’s to the nostalgic tales of Katowro Settlement.
