Greetings from Essequibo! My name is Chandrasha Persaud, and I am proud to call the vibrant community of Pomeroon-Supenaam home. Living on 24 Quan Street, I enjoy the sights and sounds of our lush landscapes, where the majestic Pomeroon River flows and the sweet aroma of cook-up rice and pepperpot fills the air. Guyana, with its rich cultural heritage and diverse population, has shaped my identity and instilled in me a deep appreciation for our traditions, from our colorful festivals to the lively rhythms of our folk music.
As a resident of this beautiful country, I often find joy in the simple pleasures of life—enjoying fresh fruits from the local market, gathering with family for Sunday lunch, or relaxing under the shade of our indigenous trees. It is essential to me that we celebrate Guyana's unique identity and preserve our history while embracing modernity. I believe that every home should reflect our culture, akin to the colonial-style houses that echo our past, rather than mimicking other parts of the world.
Connection with the Guyanese diaspora is also close to my heart. Many of us share stories of our experiences, whether through visits or through conversations online.
