Hello! I’m Chandrawat Lakeram, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast in Zorg Essequibo, nestled in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up amidst the rich cultural heritage of our vibrant land, I carry a deep appreciation for the sounds of our folk music that echo through the rivers and forests, as well as the tantalizing aromas of our local dishes like pepperpot and metemgee, which remind me of family gatherings during festive occasions.
Living in such a culturally rich environment has instilled in me a sense of pride for our Guyanese identity. Whether it's celebrating the diverse festivals that bring together our communities or enjoying a lively game of cricket on the sea dam, there’s always a vibe of unity and celebration. I believe that every Guyanese, no matter where they are in the world, should cherish and promote the unique aspects of our culture—because they connect us, whether in the heart of Essequibo or across the diaspora.
