Hello! My name is Chandrika Lackan, and I proudly call La Bagatelle, Leguan, in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region my home. As a dedicated labourer, I have deep roots in my community and a strong connection to the rich traditions of Guyana. From the vibrant rhythms of our folk music to the savory aroma of pepperpot simmering during special occasions, my life is woven with the flavors and sounds that define our culture.
Growing up here has instilled in me a love for our lush landscapes, like the serene River Waiwaro Creek, and the warmth of my neighbors. I cherish the unity of our community, whether it's gathering for a meal or celebrating our diverse heritage. I often reminisce about my childhood memories spent near Lower Pom River Greenfield, where laughter and stories flowed as freely as the water.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I enjoy connecting with fellow countrymen, sharing our experiences and celebrating our achievements, like when we founded CARICOM. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
