Hello! My name is Chandrouti Somaru, and I am a proud farmer from the beautiful Bank Essequibo Parika Backdam in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up amidst the lush greenery and vibrant waterways of Essequibo, I've always felt a deep connection to the land that sustains us. My days are filled with nurturing crops like cassava, plantains, and rice, which are staples in our local cuisine. There's nothing quite like enjoying a fresh plate of metemgee with a side of chicken curry, a dish that embodies the rich flavors of our culture.
As someone who deeply values our Guyanese heritage, I believe in the importance of fostering community ties and sharing our traditions with those in the diaspora. I often reflect on the resilience and spirit of our people, as seen in the bustling markets of Georgetown and the serene beauty of landmarks like the Kaieteur Falls.
