Hello! My name is Charles Petty, and I hail from the vibrant community of Demerara, specifically from 7 Bruda Street in Uitvlugt. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Essequibo Islands-West Demerara, I developed a deep appreciation for our rich culture and the warmth of our people. Whether it's enjoying a hearty plate of cook-up rice or soaking in the sights along the Pomeroon River, my roots in Guyana have shaped who I am today.
As a dedicated labourer, I work hard to contribute to my community and provide for my family. I believe in the importance of honesty and transparency; as one wise voice in our diaspora remarked, “Gotta say it as it is or nothing will ever change.” I carry this sentiment with me in my daily life, striving to foster a better environment for those around me. I have a special connection to my homeland, and I often reflect on how Guyana's journey into the Caribbean community has opened doors for all of us.
Though I may now be far from the riverbanks of the Lower Pom, the memories of family gatherings, the aroma of freshly baked cassava bread, and the spirit of unity continue to inspire me.
