Hello! I’m Chavinee Hassan, a proud clerk from the Essequibo Coast, located west of the Public Road in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve been deeply influenced by the rich cultural heritage of our beautiful land, from the lush green landscapes to the aroma of curry and pepperpot wafting through the air during family gatherings. The Essequibo River, with its winding paths, holds a special place in my heart, reminding me of both our natural beauty and the challenges we face, like solid waste management and public transport issues that we often discuss in our communities.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the mixed feelings many have about our homeland. While we celebrate our unique traditions, such as the vibrant festivals and the warmth of our people, we also acknowledge the hard truths, such as corruption and environmental concerns. However, I firmly believe that the current government is our best option for navigating these challenges. My aim is to engage constructively, drawing from both my experiences here and the conversations within our diaspora about what can be improved.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
