Hello! I’m Chenille Bowen, a dedicated teacher based in the vibrant heart of Essequibo Coast, specifically at 43 Public Road, Bush Lot, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and the rhythmic flow of the Pomeroon River, I developed a deep appreciation for the unique blend of cultures that defines our beautiful Guyana. From the spicy aroma of pepperpot wafting through family gatherings to the stories shared under the stars along the banks of the Pom. River, I carry these cherished memories with me wherever I go.
As an educator, my goal is to inspire my students to embrace their heritage while equipping them with the knowledge and skills to thrive in a globalized world. I believe in the importance of nurturing a strong sense of identity, which is why I incorporate local tales and traditions into my teaching. Whether it's discussing the rich history of Moruca or exploring the beauty of Waramuri Island, I aim to connect my students to the very essence of who we are as Guyanese.
Even though I currently reside away from some of our beautiful rivers and settlements, my heart remains intertwined with the essence of home. I love connecting with fellow Guyanese in the diaspora, hearing their stories, and sharing a piece of our culture. Whether it’s a virtual chat about the best spots for a hearty meal or reminiscing about Cocorite Landing St., I am proud to be part of a community that values its roots and looks forward to a bright future.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
