Hello! I’m Cheryl Greenidge, a proud resident of East Bank Essequibo, situated along the scenic Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. Growing up in this vibrant area, I’ve always been surrounded by the rich culture and traditions that define our nation, from the lush landscapes to the lively gatherings filled with laughter and the aromas of our beloved dishes. Whether it's a hearty pepperpot simmering on the stove or a plate of cook-up rice at a family celebration, food has always been a centerpiece of my life, connecting me to my roots and the warmth of our community.
As I navigate life here, I often reflect on the significance of our history and governance. I resonate with my fellow Guyanese who recognize the importance of civic engagement and the need for a government that works for all its citizens. The current political climate reminds me of our resilience and the strength of our people, who have always fought for a brighter future, much like the unity I see in our diaspora connecting with their ancestral lands.
