Hello! I’m Chetram Mohabeer, a proud welder based in the vibrant community of East Bank Essequibo. Growing up along the lush banks of the Essequibo River, I’ve come to appreciate the rich cultural tapestry that defines our beautiful land. From the aroma of freshly cooked pepperpot wafting through the air during the holidays to the lively sounds of local cricket matches, every moment here resonates with a unique spirit and warmth that makes Guyana feel like home.
Living in Pomeroon-Supenaam, I’ve always felt a deep connection to my roots and the diverse heritage that shapes our society. Whether it’s conversing in Creole with neighbors or attending one of our many vibrant festivals, I embrace the everyday experiences that bring us together. I’m particularly proud of our community’s resilience and the way we celebrate every holiday, regardless of religion or race, reflecting the harmony that exists among us.
As I work on various projects, I often think about the future of Guyana, especially with the promising oil revenues on the horizon. Many of us in the diaspora, including those who have settled abroad, are excited about what’s to come and the possibilities for our homeland.
