About CHETRAM SINGH

About Chet Ram Singh

Greetings from Demerara! My name is Chet Ram Singh, and I proudly call the vibrant region of Essequibo Islands-West Demerara my home. Growing up near the beautiful Pomeroon River and savoring dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice, I've developed a deep appreciation for our rich culinary heritage. I believe that food is more than just nourishment; it’s a way to connect with our roots and share our culture with others—especially with family and friends gathered around a plate of freshly made metemgee.

As a resident of the bustling community at De Buff Canal No.2, I find joy in the simple pleasures of life, from walking along the riverbank to enjoying the sounds of nature that surround us. I have a keen interest in the environmental challenges our beautiful land faces, and I’m passionate about advocating for sustainable practices to protect our waterways and wildlife—yes, even the manatees we sometimes see emerging through the plastic-filled waters! Together, we can work towards a cleaner and healthier Guyana for future generations.

Having interacted with the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the longing for home that many carry in their hearts. Whether you're exploring Kumaka Landing or reminiscing about the sweet taste of a ripe golden apple, our shared experiences unite us across the miles. I invite you to connect with me, as we celebrate our culture, navigate our challenges, and uplift one another, no matter where we may be.
