Greetings! I'm Chris Williams, a proud Guyanese seaman hailing from the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region. With the beautiful Pomeroon River flowing through my upbringing, I've always felt a deep connection to the rich history and culture of my homeland. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and the warmth of our communities, I've learned to appreciate the blend of our Indigenous heritage and the diverse influences that have shaped our way of life. From the delicious flavors of pepperpot and cook-up rice to the rhythmic sounds of our folk music, every element of my culture resonates with pride and resilience.
As I navigate the seas, I carry with me the spirit of my ancestors, those brave individuals who were trafficked against their will and are more accurately remembered as "enslaved." Their stories inspire my journey and deepen my commitment to sharing our history in a way that honors their legacy. Being part of the Guyanese diaspora, I recognize the importance of maintaining our cultural ties, whether through food, music, or community gatherings. Whether it's reminiscing about the River Curimeru Settlement or the lively community at Upper Pom River, I find comfort in these connections, knowing they keep our culture alive even across oceans.
Currently residing on Coast 177 Public Road, I am dedicated to staying engaged with my roots while exploring the vast horizons of the sea. I believe that every voyage teaches us something new and reinforces the importance of community, heritage, and respect for our shared history.
