Hello! I’m Christie Munroe, a proud farmer residing in the beautiful Essequibo Coast, specifically in Coconut Dam Richmond, in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Farming runs in my veins, and I have devoted my life to cultivating the rich land of our homeland, where the soil meets the sun and the rivers flow with life. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant culture of Guyana, I’ve learned to appreciate the simple joys, from the taste of fresh cassava bread to the sweet aroma of ripe mangoes during the season.
As a farmer, I am deeply connected to our community, where families often gather to celebrate traditional festivals, share meals, and reminisce about our ancestors. There’s nothing quite like the sound of laughter echoing through the air during a local cricket match or the festive vibes of Mashramani. Despite the progress we’re making with new homes and developments—like the magnificent structures built by our people returning from overseas—I see the need for better infrastructure to support our growth and connect us further.
Through my journey, I’ve forged bonds with the Guyanese diaspora, who often share stories about their experiences abroad and their dreams of returning to our beloved land.
