Hello! I’m Christina Hansham, a proud resident of the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up in this beautiful part of the country, I’ve been deeply influenced by the rich cultural heritage that surrounds me. From the lush landscapes to the vibrant traditions, there's always something magical about our home, whether it’s the sound of the river or the aroma of a pot of homemade pepperpot simmering on the stove. My roots run deep, and I cherish each moment spent with family, especially during festivities where the fusion of flavors from our diverse communities truly shines.
My father, a Guyanese who ventured to the U.S. as a teenager, instilled in me a love for our traditional foods and customs. Thanks to him and my extended family, I’ve been fortunate enough to grow up enjoying the same dishes he savored back in Guyana. Each meal is a reminder of where we come from and the stories that connect us, whether it’s sharing a plate of cook-up rice or reminiscing about our childhood adventures along the Pom River.
Living in the diaspora, I find joy in bridging my Guyanese heritage with my current experiences. It's heartwarming to connect with others who share similar backgrounds, like my best friend who introduces me to new perspectives and adventures. I hope to continue sharing the beauty of Guyana's culture through storytelling and culinary experiences, ensuring that our traditions remain alive and well, no matter where we are in the world.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
