Hello! My name is Christine Samaroo, and I proudly call the vibrant community of Zeeburg on the West Coast of Demerara my home. Growing up here has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich culture and the warmth of our people. From sharing a bowl of pepperpot during Christmas to enjoying a Sunday cook-up with family and friends, these cherished traditions remind me of the love and unity that define us as Guyanese. I often reminisce about the lush beauty of our capital, Georgetown, which was once known as the 'Garden City.' It’s a place that has shaped my identity and serves as a reminder of the communal spirit that once flourished in every neighborhood.
As a resident in this picturesque region, I find beauty not only in the natural landscapes, such as the serene banks of the Essequibo River but also in the diverse stories shared by my neighbors.
