About CHRISTINE EDUN

About Christine Edun

Hello! My name is Christine Edun, and I proudly call Essequibo 1, specifically Orangestein on the East Bank of Pomeroon-Supenaam, my home. Growing up in this vibrant region has filled my life with the lush beauty of the Pomeroon River and the warm spirit of my fellow Guyanese. From the golden sunsets over the river to the bustling markets filled with fresh produce like cassava, plantains, and the ever-popular pepperpot, my roots run deep in this rich soil.

As a resident of Guyana, I am passionate about our environment and the challenges we face. I believe that, as a community, we need to take a stand to care for our surroundings, recognizing that while there are issues such as solid waste management that need addressing, we also have the potential to create lasting change. I often reflect on the importance of our local governance, acknowledging that despite its imperfections, it represents our best path forward.

My connection to the diaspora is strong, and I cherish sharing our stories and experiences with fellow Guyanese around the world. Whether it’s reminiscing about the traditional cook-ups shared with family or discussing our beloved landmarks such as St. Monica and Pomeroon’s scenic spots, I strive to keep the spirit of our culture alive. I invite you to join me in celebrating the unique blend of our heritage and the journey we all share as we navigate both challenges and triumphs together.
