Greetings! My name is Christopher Young, and I proudly call the beautiful region of Pomeroon-Supenaam, specifically Coast 07 on Esso Road Adventure, my home. Growing up here has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage, from the vibrant sounds of the markets to the fragrant aromas of our beloved dishes like pepperpot and curry. Each meal is a celebration of our diverse influences, whether it’s from our Indigenous roots or the various communities that have settled here over the years.
Living near the Pomeroon River, I've developed a strong connection to our natural environment. The lush landscapes and serene waters are not just picturesque; they are integral to our way of life, providing sustenance and a sense of peace. I often find joy in sharing stories of our local landmarks, such as the River Jamaica Settlement and Manawarin Cashew Hill, which hold memories for many of us in the diaspora and evoke a sense of pride in our identities.
As a resident of Guyana, I am also passionate about fostering connections with fellow Guyanese and those interested in our culture, especially in the diaspora. We share a unique bond, whether through music, food, or shared experiences, and I believe that each interaction is an opportunity to celebrate our heritage. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
