Hello! My name is Christopher Sahadeo, and I proudly hail from the vibrant and diverse West Bank Demerara. Growing up in Guyana, I was surrounded by the rich sounds of the Essequibo River and the aroma of local delicacies like roti and curry, which still bring back fond memories. Whether it’s the bustling markets of Georgetown or the serene beauty of the Kaieteur Falls, my love for this land is deep-rooted, and I carry it with me wherever I go.
Having spent my formative years here, I understand the warmth of our community and the unique charm of our local eateries. As one saying goes, if you walk into a restaurant where the conversation is a little jumbled, you can bet the food is going to be exceptional! Just like many in our diaspora, I’ve held onto little pieces of home, from Marmite to the spirited banter about the correct way to pronounce ‘Essequibo.’ There’s a certain joy in sharing these cultural quirks with others who understand the essence of being Guyanese.
Even though I might not be living in Guyana now, my heart remains tied to this beautiful country. I enjoy connecting with fellow Guyanese, whether it's through sharing our stories of growing up in the land of many waters or bonding over the latest happenings back home. Together, we keep our culture alive, no matter where we find ourselves in the world.
