Hello! I’m Christopher Sripersaud, a proud resident of East Bank Essequibo, right here in the beautiful Parika Backdam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I have always been inspired by the rich cultural heritage of Guyana. From the mouthwatering flavors of our local dishes, like pepperpot and cook-up rice, to the warmth of our people, every part of my upbringing has shaped who I am today.
As someone deeply connected to my roots, I cherish the stories and traditions that come from our diverse backgrounds, including the significant Indian influence in our culture. Whether it’s celebrating Phagwah or indulging in the festivities of Mashramani, these experiences have enriched my life, and I love sharing them with others. Living here has also given me a unique perspective on the changes and challenges we face, as well as the undeniable spirit of resilience that defines us.
Having family and friends both locally and in the diaspora, I understand the importance of maintaining our cultural ties. I look forward to connecting with fellow Guyanese, both near and far, and sharing the beauty of our homeland, from the serene banks of the Pomeroon River to the bustling streets of Georgetown.
