Hello! My name is Chrystal Clarke, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast home. Growing up in the vibrant community of the 119 Housing Scheme in Pomeroon-Supenaam, I've been deeply influenced by the rich cultural heritage that Guyana offers. From the delicious flavors of our traditional dishes like pepperpot and metemgee to the lively festivities of Mashramani, my upbringing has instilled in me a profound appreciation for our unique Guyanese identity.
As a resident of Guyana, I've witnessed the journey of our nation, from the struggles under past regimes to the resilience of our people. The stories of our history, including the fight against corruption and the vibrant spirit of our Amerindian communities, shape my understanding of who we are. I believe it's essential to keep the conversation alive about our past while celebrating the diverse cultures that coexist within our borders, including the contributions of the Arekuna tribe and others.
Connecting with the diaspora has become an essential part of my life. It's a reminder that no matter how far we roam, the heart of our culture beats loudly in every corner of the world. I cherish sharing experiences and stories with fellow Guyanese, whether it’s reminiscing about the stunning views of the Pomeroon River or discussing the latest happenings back home.
