Greetings! I’m Claude Cameron, an operator based in the vibrant community of Parika on the East Bank of Essequibo. Growing up in this beautiful region of Guyana, I've been lucky to call home the lush landscapes, rich rivers like the Pomeroon, and the warm smiles of my neighbors. Here, we celebrate our culture through delicious dishes like pepperpot and metemgee, and there’s nothing quite like a Sunday afternoon spent at the local market with the scent of fresh fruits and spices wafting through the air.
As a proud Guyanese, I cherish the unique blend of cultures that our country embodies, from the indigenous peoples to the influences of our East Indian, African, and European ancestors. This diversity enriches our festivals, music, and community gatherings, fostering a sense of belonging that resonates even as many of us find ourselves in the diaspora. I often reminisce about the colorful festivities during Mashramani, where the rhythm of the steelpan and the vibrancy of our national colors bring everyone together in celebration.
