Based in the serene locale of 25 Maria’s Lodge on the Essequibo Coast, I am a proud Guyanese resident deeply rooted in the vibrant culture of my homeland. Surrounded by the lush landscapes and the meandering rivers of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I cherish the flavorful essence of our local cuisine—particularly the beloved fried fish and plantains that often fuel spirited gatherings under the tropical sun. Despite the challenges we face as a nation, I remain optimistic about the potential for growth and unity among our people.
Having traveled extensively within Guyana, I have come to appreciate the rich diversity of our communities, from the distinct cultural practices of the Indo-Guyanese to the rhythms of our Afro-Guyanese heritage. I believe our music, dance, and language reflect the heart of who we are, and I take pride in sharing these elements with those outside our borders. However, I also recognize the pressing issues that affect us, including the migration of our brightest minds in search of better opportunities, which can leave a gap in our societal fabric.
