About CLIF ANTHONY LAWRIE

About Clif Lawrie

Hello! My name is Clif Lawrie, and I am proud to call the lush Pomeroon region my home. Nestled along the bustling Coast B Public Road in Andrews, I am a dedicated farmer, nurturing the land that has sustained generations of my family. The Pomeroon River is not just a landmark to me; it’s a lifeline that connects our vibrant community and provides the rich soil that brings life to our crops. Whether I’m tending to my cassava or sharing stories with neighbors, the essence of Guyanese culture is ever-present in my daily life.

Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always cherished our culinary traditions, from the mouthwatering pepperpot to the sweet, creamy cassava pone. I often reminisce about family gatherings where laughter filled the air, and the aroma of curried crab and rice wafted through the homes of our beloved lower Pomeroon community. Despite the challenges we face, like the occasional litter on our beloved riverbanks, the spirit of resilience shines through, reminding us of the beauty that still exists in our surroundings.

As I engage with the wider Guyanese diaspora, I feel an unbreakable bond with my kin, wherever they may be. It’s important to me that we share our stories, celebrate our roots, and advocate for our environment. After all, every manatee that struggles through the plastic-strewn waters is a call to action for us all. Let’s work together to preserve the beauty of our homeland for generations to come, reminding the world that Guyana, rich in culture and heart, deserves to be known and loved.
