Hello! My name is Clifton Rogers, and I proudly call Wakenaam in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and vibrant communities, I've developed a deep appreciation for our rich culture, which is a beautiful blend of Indigenous, African, East Indian, and European influences. From the sweet sound of chutney music to the mouthwatering aroma of a proper cook-up rice or pepperpot wafting through the air, every aspect of Guyanese life fills me with pride.
As a lifelong resident of this incredible country, I feel a strong connection to our natural environment, which is as diverse as our people. I believe that our land, with its mighty rivers and dense forests, tells the story of our ancestors—people who have lived harmoniously with nature for centuries. I cherish the vibrant community spirit, especially during festivals and local gatherings, where we share stories, laughter, and of course, our favorite dishes. Although I may not be adventurous enough to try laba, I respect those who do, as it reflects our unique culinary traditions.
