Hello! I’m Clive Jones, a proud resident of Mission in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of the Pomeroon, my roots run deep in this beautiful land where the rivers and forests tell stories of our ancestors. From enjoying a hearty plate of cook-up rice on special occasions to indulging in the sweet taste of black cake during the holidays, every meal is a celebration of our rich heritage.
As someone who has witnessed the growth and challenges of our nation, I feel a strong connection to the diaspora. It’s bittersweet to see so many of our educated folks moving abroad for better opportunities, reminiscent of the conversations I often have about keeping our talented youth close to home. Just as I’ve navigated the streets of Georgetown, feeling both pride and frustration in equal measure, I understand the complexities of our society and the impact of our historical narrative on present-day Guyana.
Whether I'm sharing stories from my childhood or participating in local initiatives aimed at uplifting our community, I am committed to fostering a sense of belonging here in Pomeroon. My passion for our culture, from the rhythms of our folk music to the warmth of our people, drives me to connect with others who share the same love for Guyana.
