Hello! I’m Coleen Johnson, a dedicated teacher based in the heart of the Essequibo Coast, right along the 13 Public Road Zorg in Pomeroon-Supenaam. My passion for education is matched only by my love for Guyana's vibrant culture and heritage. Growing up here has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our unique blend of traditions, from savoring a plate of pepperpot on special occasions to enjoying a good serving of roti and curry with family and friends.
For me, teaching goes beyond the classroom; it’s about nurturing the next generation to appreciate the beauty of our homeland, whether it’s sharing stories of the majestic Kaieteur Falls or the rich history of our rivers like the Pomeroon. I often incorporate local landmarks and cultural references into my lessons, helping students connect their education with the world around them. You might say I’m like the “wifi wiri,” connecting young minds to the vast knowledge they hold within and beyond our shores!
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the bonds we share, no matter where life takes us.
