Greetings! I’m Colleen Gordon-Tappin, a proud teacher residing on the beautiful West Coast Demerara at Public Road De Kinderen, Pomeroon-Supenaam. As an educator, I am passionate about nurturing the minds of our future generations and sharing the rich cultural heritage of Guyana with my students. From the vibrant vines of our tropical fruits to the lush greenery that defines our stunning landscape, I strive to instill a sense of pride and appreciation for our diverse environment in every lesson.
Guyana is a place where every dish tells a story, and I often find myself reminiscing about family gatherings filled with the delightful aromas of pepperpot, curry, and the best Chinese food you can find in South America. Whether it's taking a weekend trip to Bartica for its breathtaking views or enjoying a quiet evening by the Pomeroon River, the beauty of our homeland never ceases to amaze me. I believe that sharing these experiences helps bridge the gap for those in the diaspora, reminding us all of where we come from.
As much as I love teaching, I also cherish the connections I’ve made within our local and international communities. Engaging with other Guyanese, whether it's through social media or in-person gatherings, is a vital part of my life. It's heartwarming to hear fellow compatriots share their stories, dreams, and aspirations. Together, we celebrate our unique culture and the vibrant spirit of Guyana, reminding ourselves that no matter where we are in the world, we carry a piece of our homeland with us.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
